Yellow Twig Dogwood
$10.99
If your winter gardens make you feel a little blue, Yellow Twig Dogwood is for you! It’s the perfect multi-season interest shrub. Cheery yellow young stems add winter color when everything else is drab and gray. These are even more striking when planted with red twig dogwood or when planted in groups for extra color. (see photos in the gallery for an example).
**Note: Please see the last 3 photos for an example of the actual plants you will receive if purchased when dormant (late fall through early spring) and to be sure you are happy with their size. These will also be shipped bare root (no pot with minimal dirt). Thanks!

💛 This listing is for one Yellow Twig Dogwood (Cornus sericea ‘Flaviramea’), currently 12-18″ tall, dormant (no leaves) and bare root (no pot with minimal dirt) from late fall to early spring. ➡️ PLEASE see the last 3 photos as a reference for dormancy, size, and root ball to make sure you are happy. These are an example of the plants you will receive.
Small clusters of creamy white flowers appear in spring, followed by bluish-white berries that birds love. Butterflies are also very drawn to the flowers and fruits. In summer, the leafy green growth still makes for a very attractive shrub. Cornus sericea ‘Flaviramea’ is also a native shrub for most of the United States, except the deep south.
✅ Zones 3-8
✅ Mature size: 5-6 feet tall and wide
✅ Sun: Full sun – partial shade (3+ hours of sun daily)
✅ Water needs: Likes to stay moist/wet
✅ Soil: Adaptable to most
✅ Pruning is not required but can be done in late winter/early spring to encourage new growth which has the most vivid yellow color.
✅ Perfect for swampy areas, along streams, ponds, lakes, rivers, wetlands. Excellent for erosion control as well.
✅ This shrub makes the perfect companion for evergreens because of its outstanding yellow winter color
✅ Can grow up to 2 feet per year (pretty quick!) and they do spread by suckers so those will need to be removed if colonization is not welcomed.
🦋🐝 Pollinators value these for their flowers and drupes in spring/summer
✅ Yellow twig dogwood is a great addition to rain gardens, privacy hedges, pollinator gardens, and anywhere that extra pop of color is wanted year-round!
Even though Yellow Twig Dogwood can survive just fine in zone 8, heat and humidity can cause more problems than colder zones would see. A common issue would be cankers. So this is something to keep in mind if you live in a hot/humid summer climate. Otherwise, this is an interesting, unique, fun plant that really livens up any landscape beautifully.

➡️ I do my best to package your plants with the utmost care and love. Roots will be wrapped in damp paper with a plastic layer secured over top to hold in moisture. We always put “live plant stickers” on your box in hopes that UPS will indeed handle your box with love. We also ship in the quickest (affordable) manner possible to ensure your new plant babies get in your hands as soon as possible. We do not use USPS because we have seen too many long delays which makes for unhappy plants and customers. 🙂 Shipping occurs Monday and Tuesday – sometimes Wednesday – if you are close enough for a Friday delivery. We do this to prevent your plants from sitting in a warehouse over the weekend. If there are major issues with your order, please reach out. We care about your happiness. ❤️
