Spicebush

$28.99

If you love butterflies, you do not want to miss out on the Spicebush!  It is one of few hosts for the Spicebush caterpillar, which turns into the Spicebush swallowtail butterfly.  (See photo gallery).  Best of all, it is native to Virginia! This is a very special shrub with a very special purpose in our ecosystem.

Not only will you love supporting local pollinators, but you’ll also love Spicebush’s seasonal colors.  In Spring, small yellow flowers adorn its branches and bright yellow leaves show off in Fall!  If both male & female Spicebush are present, you’ll even see berries in the fall too!

Ours are several years old, in 2 gallon pots and ready for those dappled sun areas of your yard! We’ve definitely had ours in partial shade and they’ve been very happy.
