The Pink Lemonade Blueberry (vaccinium ‘pink lemonade’) might not be blue, but it is oh so sweet! In fact, some say it’s even sweeter than the traditional berries you’re used to. Picking these unique blueberries in late summer to early fall fresh off the bush as a treat for you or with your loved ones is a memory not soon forgotten!

Ours are young (starter plant) blueberry bushes, 6 – 12 inches tall, ready for planting and growing in their new home! In 2 – 3 years, you’ll be enjoying my berries!

Is the Pink Lemonade Blueberry bush right for you?

Don’t let my pink color fool you!  I’m one of the sweetest and best-flavored blueberries you’ll ever taste!

My fruit isn’t the only thing you’ll love, though.  I can also make an attractive compact shrub border with something of interest year-round.  In late spring, I blossom with beautiful pink-white bell-shaped flowers that butterflies absolutely love, making way for my pale green fruit.  Gradually, my green fruit turns deeper shades of pink until they’re ready for harvest in late summer to early fall. Yum!

In the fall, my leaves turn a beautiful orange and burgundy color.  As my foliage gives way for dormancy, you’ll see my red-tinted twigs which are interesting all by themselves.

One of the reasons people around here love me is because I only require 300 hours below 45* to bear fruit the following year.  This makes me the ideal blueberry in case of mild winters which we seem to have frequently on the Shore these days!

I am self-pollinating so you only need one of me to get fruit but your harvest will increase if you have more than one!

Mature size: 4 – 5 feet tall and 4 – 5 feet wide

Spacing: Used as a solid hedge row, you can plant me around 2 1/2 feet apart. Plan on 6 – 10 feet apart if you’d like to row-plant me and still be able to get mowers or other equipment in between.

Sun requirements: I love the sun and need 6 – 8+ hours of direct sun daily.

Water & soil: I like to be consistently moist but in well-draining soil.  Increased irrigation may be needed during hot summer months so check me to make sure I’m not drying out while I get established.  I also do best in mostly acidic soil so be sure to check pH levels if you want me to thrive. Amend soil if needed.

Fertilizer: Adding compost to my soil each year works well because I do like rich soil.  This acid mix fertilizer (affiliate) is also the perfect addition for Pink Lemonade blueberries in early to late spring.  It really boosts production! Just don’t overdo the application.

Diseases: I am pretty resistant to pests & diseases but may be susceptible to nutrient deficiencies that need to be addressed, vine weevil, brown spot, leaf beetles, powdery mildew, and caterpillars.  None of these are typically major issues.

Good companion plants: Rhododendrons, Azaleas, Camellias, Evergreens, Peonies.  Each of these are also acid-lovers so they make great pairs.
