$19.98
Few plants can rival the showy Nanking Cherry! From the spectacular flower show covering the stems in the spring to the irresistibly sweet (slightly tart) red fruit that ripens early to mid-summer. This bush is one that anyone and everyone would love to have in their landscape! It’s a showstopper that gives you a real treat in more ways than one!
2 or more are required if you’d like for these to produce fruit.
➡️ Nanking cherry shrubs are dormant (no leaves) from late fall to early spring. They are growing in 2-gallon pots but will be shipped with no pots. Their roots will be wrapped in moist paper and secured with plastic wrap. These are well-rooted shrubs, ranging in size from 1 to 3 feet. Very healthy and ready for the ground!

Is the Nanking Cherry Tree right for you?
🚨🚨 **** Important note: Sorry, No Sales to Western, Territories, or Phyto-certificate states due to shipping restrictions in your state (Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Nevada, Montana, South Dakota, North Dakota, Colorado, Utah, and Idaho). I can also only ship to Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama, Arkansas, and Mississippi during bare root season (late fall through early spring) due to Japanese Beetle regulations.
You may have also heard these called Mountain Cherry, Korean Cherry, Downy Cherry, or Chinese Dwarf Cherry. They’re special, no matter which name you choose! Whether you grow these for their cherries, their privacy effect as a property border, or their blooms, it’s a can’t-miss kind of shrub!
✅ Zones 2-8 (zone 8 does best in morning sun and afternoon shade and may not be at their best in a high humidity with high heat combination)
✅ Mature size (average) is 6-10 feet tall and 6-15 feet wide
✅ Prefers full sun but will tolerate some light shade as well
✅ Very adaptable to different soils but needs well-draining.
✅ Keep consistently moist the first year while getting established especially.
✅ Fertilizer is not necessary and can actually reduce fruiting
✅ Late winter pruning (if needed) but often is not necessary
✅ Very resistant to pest and disease — hardy, low-maintenance plants!
✅ Exceptionally adaptable to cold, hot, windy, and even drought once established
✅ Fruit is divine fresh off the bush or can be used in jams, jellies, and baked goods!
✅ Moderately quick grower that can live up to 50 years with good care.
🍒 Begins producing fruit at 2-3 years of age, on average
🦋 Pollinators love me!! Birds love my cherries too.
Nanking cherries make excellent windbreaks thanks to their dense branching, hedgerows, or even as single ornamental shrubs. They’re extremely versatile landscaping plants. Just remember that you’ll need 2 or more for cross-pollination if you’d like the cherries too!
These are originally native to China, Japan, and the Himalayas but have not shown tendencies of being invasive here in the United States! They do spread by root suckers but these can easily be pulled up, if desired.
If you have any questions, I’m here to help the best I can! As a small family nursery, my goal is to offer the “personal touch” to show you that we care about your business. Customer service, and your support, sincerely matter to us. Thanks for looking!
➡️ I do my best to package your plants with the utmost care and love. Roots will be wrapped in damp paper with a plastic layer secured over top to hold in moisture. We always put “live plant stickers” on your box in hopes that UPS will indeed handle your box with love. We also ship in the quickest (affordable) manner possible to ensure your new plant babies get in your hands as soon as possible. We do not use USPS because we have seen too many long delays which makes for unhappy plants and customers. 🙂 Shipping occurs Monday and Tuesday – sometimes Wednesday – if you are close enough for a Friday delivery. We do this to prevent your plants from sitting in a warehouse over the weekend. If there are major issues with your order, please reach out. We care about your happiness. ❤️
