GoldRush Apple Tree (2-3 feet tall now)
$19.98
If you’ve never had an apple fresh off a GoldRush apple tree, you’re missing out! This apple variety is coveted by its fans for its irresistibly crisp, firm, juicy, tart flavor, that sweetens with time. It is perfect for baking desserts or eating fresh off the tree. Speaking of the tree itself, this variety is considered to be one of the easiest apples to grow — being resistant to apple scab, powdery mildew, and fire blight. Best of all, these apples stay fresher longer than most other varieties, lasting up to 7 months after harvest when chilled!
*Note: Apple trees are sold/shipped dormant (no leaves) and bare root (no pot with minimal to no dirt) from late fall to early spring. Please see the last two photos as an example of the actual trees you will receive to be sure you are happy with size and condition. Thanks!

**** Important note: Sorry, No Sales to Western, Territories, or Phyto-certificate states due to shipping restrictions in your state (Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Nevada, Montana, Utah, and Idaho)
🚨 A pollinator is required for Gold Rush to set fruit. We have Southern Crabapple available in our shop, which is a suitable pollinator. Fuji, Gala, Golden Delicious, Cripps Pink, Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, Pixie Crunch, among others will also work. We have a few available 🙂
✅ Zones: 5-8
✅ Mature size: 8-16 feet tall and 10 feet wide on average
✅ Light needs: Full sun (8+ hours daily)
✅ Soil: Moist, well-draining, loamy preferred.
✅ Water: Consistently moist until established (1-2 years). A bit more drought tolerant after that.
✅ Fertilizer: Apply once in spring (around late April/May). Either 10-10-10 or a blend with higher nitrogen content
✅ Add compost to the planting hole and apply a 2-3 inch layer of fresh mulch on top of the soil to retain moisture and protect from extreme temperature fluctuations (hot/cold), staying several inches away from the apple tree stem.
✅ Beautiful white/pink blooms cover this tree in April
✅ Mason bees pollinate the flowers
✅ Apples ripen in October (mid-late). Can start bearing fruit after only 2-3 years!
✅ Moderately fast grower
✅ Much easier to grow than most apple trees and is often the choice for organic growers
If you’ve always wanted to grow apples but never thought you could, think again! This easier-care apple tree is perfect for you. It produces some of the tastiest apples you’ll ever experience on your tastebuds, and its size makes it great for even smaller spaces. Space these and your other apples around 12-24 feet apart for best results.
****** Care instructions
If the ground is frozen where you are (soil is not workable) — zones 6 (maybe 7) and below, pot these up now and keep them in a cool basement, garage, or other unheated space that will stay above freezing but help keep the plant dormant. Water once when planted and once or twice a month after. Gradually “harden off” outdoors and plant once the ground is no longer frozen in the spring. Mulching helps insulate the roots and retain moisture as well. A 2 or 3 inch layer is perfect, avoiding covering the base of the stem.
If you live in a warmer zone (8) where the ground is not yet frozen or saturated with water, you can go ahead and plant these now while dormant so they can get established. A several-inch thick layer of mulching is needed here as well. If the ground is frozen, treat it as you would in the colder zones by potting it up and waiting until early spring. If below-freezing day temperatures are expected for the planting week, hold off until the weather pattern warms again.
If you have any questions, I’m here to help the best I can! As a small family nursery, my goal is to offer the “personal touch” to show you that we care about your business. Customer service, and your support, sincerely matter to us. Thanks for looking! Have a blessed day 🙂
➡️ I do my best to package your plants with the utmost care and love. Roots will be wrapped in damp paper with a plastic layer secured over top to hold in moisture. We always put “live plant stickers” on your box in hopes that UPS will indeed handle your box with love. We also ship in the quickest (affordable) manner possible to ensure your new plant babies get in your hands as soon as possible. We do not use USPS because we have seen too many long delays which makes for unhappy plants and customers. 🙂 Shipping occurs Monday and Tuesday – sometimes Wednesday – if you are close enough for a Friday delivery. We do this to prevent your plants from sitting in a warehouse over the weekend. If there are major issues with your order, please reach out. We care about your happiness. ❤️
