Is Witch Hazel right for you?

🚨🚨 **** Important note: Sorry, No Sales to Western, Territories, or Phyto-certificate states due to shipping restrictions in your state (Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Nevada, Montana, South Dakota, North Dakota, Colorado, Utah, and Idaho). I can also only ship to Texas, Alabama, Arkansas, and Mississippi during bare root season (late fall through early spring) due to Japanese Beetle regulations.

đź’š Yes! This is the variety of witch hazel that is used to create the liquid astringent we all know and love for so many medicinal purposes.

âś… Botanical name: Hamamelis Virginiana

âś… Growing Zones: 3a-9b

âś… Mature size: 15-30 feet tall and 15-20 feet wide but can be kept pruned for smaller size if done correctly.

âś… Growth rate: 1-2 feet per year

âś… Bloom time: Lovely yellow, fragrant (slightly spicy) flowers appear from October – November when most of the landscape is winding down for the year!

âś… Light requirements: 2+ hours of sun daily, but flowering is best in 6+ hours of daily sun.

âś… Soil: Witch Hazel like rich (compost, humus, etc!), well-draining, acidic soil for best results. Many soil types are tolerated, including heavy clay!

âś… Water needs: These like consistent moisture. They are not really drought-tolerant.

âś… Pruning: Can be done in late winter or early spring before the leaves appear. Suckers can also be removed if you’d rather these not spread out.

âś… Fertilizer: Compost is always welcomed, as is a food like bone meal or something natural. These also respond well to a balanced (i.e. 10-10-10) liquid formula throughout the summer months for quick, healthy growth.

âś… These beautiful large shrubs/small trees form a dense canopy and are often used as summer privacy screens, hedge rows, or even kept as patio plants to enjoy their fragrance.

âś… Witch Hazel is low maintenance, fun and easy to grow! Best of all, they reward you with color, fragrance, and a little joy when the rest of the landscape is grey, tired, and dreary. Snow covered blooms are a sight to see!

If you have any questions, I’m here to help the best I can! As a small family nursery, my goal is to offer the “personal touch” to show you that we care about your business. Customer service, and your support, sincerely matter to us. Thanks for looking!

➡️ I do my best to package your plants with the utmost care and love. Roots will be wrapped in damp paper with a plastic layer secured over top to hold in moisture. We always put “live plant stickers” on your box in hopes that UPS will indeed handle your box with love. We also ship in the quickest (affordable) manner possible to ensure your new plant babies get in your hands as soon as possible. We do not use USPS because we have seen too many long delays which makes for unhappy plants and customers. 🙂 Shipping occurs Monday and Tuesday – sometimes Wednesday – if you are close enough for a Friday delivery. We do this to prevent your plants from sitting in a warehouse over the weekend. If there are major issues with your order, please reach out. We care about your happiness. ❤️
