Variegated Weigela

$14.95

Weigela is easily one of our customer favorites, and honestly, it’s one of our favorites too! This Variegated Weigela (Weigela Florida Variegata) takes the great plant factor up a notch or two, though.  With its green and white/yellow leaves, even when not in bloom, this shrub adds beauty to your landscape.

It’s great for planting around your foundation and its summertime light pink flowers will make you wish it never stopped blooming! I like being pruned when needed so you can easily keep me the shape and size you prefer.

Plus, hummingbirds absolutely love me so just imagine sitting nearby watching them buzz around, and hearing their gentle hum. There’s so much to love about me!

➡️ Ours are large and well-rooted in 2 gallon pots, freshly trimmed, DIY landscape-ready plants! From late fall to early spring, they are dormant (no leaves). They will be shipped without pots and are bare-rooted when dormant, which is the best time to buy new plants! 🙂 Please see the last 2 photos for a size and quality reference when they were not dormant to be sure you are happy before you order. Thanks! See below for more information.

Is Variegated Weigela right for you?

🚨🚨 **** Important note: Sorry, No Sales to Western, Territories, or Phyto-certificate states due to shipping restrictions in your state (Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Nevada, Montana, South Dakota, North Dakota, Colorado, Utah, and Idaho). I can also only ship to Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama, Arkansas, and Mississippi during bare root season (late fall through early spring) due to Japanese Beetle regulations.

Easily one of the most eye-catching, gorgeous shrubs you will ever see! Even when not in bloom, the variegated leaves still add beauty to your landscape. This is a customer favorite for a reason! They are deer resistant, heat tolerant, and low maintenance.

The arching growing habit of these branches offer a graceful and gorgeous effect, with or without blooms (but especially with!) Variegated leaves emerge in early spring as a beautiful green with white edges, changing to pale yellow as the seasons carry on.

If you’re looking for that easy-care wow factor, this weigela will do the trick! 🦋 You’ll also enjoy watching the hummingbirds, butterflies and other pollinators because they LOVE it!

🌺 You can also mix these with other Weigela varieties for an extra pop of color.

Botanical name: Weigela florida ‘Variegata’

Deciduous (loses leaves in winter)

Bloom time: Late spring to early summer (May-July)

Growing Zones: 5-9

Mature size: 4-6 feet tall and wide. Fairly quick growers. Space these around 6 feet apart when planting more than one for a gorgeous flowering hedge row.

Light requirements: These do best with partial sun (dappled shade during hottest part of the afternoon) in hot summer climates. In cooler zones, full sun is perfect.

Soil: Adaptable to most soil types but does need well-draining.

Water: Prefers consistently moist, especially while getting established (first year or two). A little less needy after.

Pruning: Although not absolutely required, weigela do respond very well to a good hard prune to maintain health, size, and shape. Do this in late spring after the flowering is done.

Fertilizer: Apply a slow release tree and shrub food in early to mid spring

🦋 🐝 Very beneficial for pollinators!

🦌 Weigela are deer resistant (it’s not their favorite!)

✅ Weigela are also very pest and disease resistant which makes them super hardy and fun to grow!

🌸 You will adore this one. I love looking at the colors on ours and get so many compliments on it. You will too, guaranteed! These weigela make quite a statement.

If you have any questions, I’m here to help the best I can! As a small family nursery, my goal is to offer the “personal touch” to show you that we care about your business. Customer service, and your support, sincerely matter to us. Thanks for looking!

➡️ I do my best to package your plants with the utmost care and love. Roots will be wrapped in damp paper with a plastic layer secured over top to hold in moisture. We always put “live plant stickers” on your box in hopes that UPS will indeed handle your box with love. We also ship in the quickest (affordable) manner possible to ensure your new plant babies get in your hands as soon as possible. We do not use USPS because we have seen too many long delays which makes for unhappy plants and customers. 🙂 Shipping occurs Monday and Tuesday – sometimes Wednesday – if you are close enough for a Friday delivery. We do this to prevent your plants from sitting in a warehouse over the weekend. If there are major issues with your order, please reach out. We care about your happiness. ❤️
