Northern Sea Oats

$8.00

Northern Sea Oats (Chasmanthium latifolium) is hard not to love.  They’re native, attract butterflies and moths, can tolerate some shade, and they have the prettiest flower spikes in Summer. My leaves turn an incredible coppery color after frost and my seed heads turn a purple-bronze color.  All of that means I provide you with multi-season interest, which is always nice! You can cut me back to the ground in early Spring to keep me growing nicely.

As an ornamental grass, I do self-seed and spread so I’m not a good fit for you if you don’t want this to happen.  Some people use me as a tall ground cover in naturalized gardens because I can cover an area pretty easily.  My Summer flower spikes also make beautiful additions to cut flower arrangements!

I’m about as low maintenance as they come; very hardy, deer resistant, and unbothered by most pests and diseases! Definitely easy to love!
