Fuji Apple Tree
$19.99
Oooooh so sweet! The Fuji apple tree fruit has that irresistibly crisp and sugar-sweet flavor. Now you can start growing your own. Nothing beats fresh and homegrown. Best of all, Fuji starts producing fruit somewhere between 3-5 years of age and just keeps getting better. Ours are semi-dwarf, making them perfect for yards with limited space.
🚨 If you purchase from late fall to early spring, these will be shipped dormant (no leaves until spring) and bare root (no pot and minimal dirt). *Please* see the last 2 photos in our gallery for an example of the plant you will receive.

Is a Fuji Apple Tree right for you?
**** Important note: Sorry, No Sales to Western, Territories, or Phyto-certificate states due to shipping restrictions in your state (Hawaii, Alaska, California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Nevada, and Idaho)
🚨 Fuji requires a pollinator to produce fruit. Gala and Golden Delicious both work well as pollinators and we have them too while they last!
According to NC State, “The Fuji apple is a hybrid created in Japan in the 1930’s with two American apple varieties, Red Delicious and old Virginia Ralls Genet. It is named after the town near the research station, Fujisaki.”
✅ Botanical Name: Malus domestica ‘Fuji’
✅ Hardiness Zones: 5 – 9
✅ Bloom Time: Spring (typically April) — beautiful blooms with pink back and white front
✅ Fruit ripens in mid-October
✅ Light needs: Full to part sun (6+ hours of sun daily)
✅ Soil: Moist, well-drained soil — slightly acidic preferred
✅ Mature Size: Averages 12-15′ tall and wide
✅ Needs a pollinator to produce fruit
✅ Treat with copper-based fungicide in spring to keep this tree healthy. It’s easier to prevent disease than to treat a problem! They do need care but are rewarding!
✅ Consistent applications of neem oil also work well (but don’t combine with copper at the same time)
✅ Prune/thin once dormant (late fall to early spring) to prevent overcrowding which creates disease
✅ Pollinators love my blooms!
✅ Add compost to your planting hole and apply a slow-release balanced fertilizer in the spring on top of the soil. Espoma Tree-Tone works well
Fuji is a winner all the way around. Beautiful blooms in spring make way for an apple that is sure to put a smile on anyone’s face! If it’s true that an apple a day can keep the doctor away, why not have your own fresh supply? 😉
If you order a bare root dormant tree (late fall to early spring)….
In colder zones where the ground is already frozen, it’s best to pot these up now and keep them in a cool basement, garage, or other unheated space that will stay above freezing but help keep the plant dormant. Water 2-3 times per week the first week. Keep consistently moist after. Gradually “harden off” outdoors and plant once the ground is no longer frozen in the spring. Mulching helps insulate the roots and retain moisture as well.
If you live in a warmer zone where the ground is not yet frozen, you can go ahead and plant these now while dormant so they can get established. Heavy mulching is needed here as well. If the ground is frozen, treat it as you would in the colder zones by potting it up and waiting until early spring.
If you have any questions, I’m here to help the best I can! As a small family nursery, my goal is to offer the “personal touch” to show you that we care about your business. Customer service, and your support, sincerely matter to us. Thanks for looking!
➡️ I do my best to package your plants with the utmost care and love. Roots will be wrapped in damp paper with a plastic layer secured over top to hold in moisture. We always put “live plant stickers” on your box in hopes that UPS will indeed handle your box with love. We also ship in the quickest (affordable) manner possible to ensure your new plant babies get in your hands as soon as possible. We do not use USPS because we have seen too many long delays which makes for unhappy plants and customers. 🙂 Shipping occurs Monday and Tuesday – sometimes Wednesday – if you are close enough for a Friday delivery. We do this to prevent your plants from sitting in a warehouse over the weekend. If there are major issues with your order, please reach out. We care about your happiness. ❤️
