Compact Burning Bush

Original price was: $19.95.Current price is: $14.95.

Compact Burning Bush is still one of America’s most popular shrubs. STUNNING is the only way you can describe the color on a Burning Bush. In fall, the fire engine red scarlet color is hard to beat with any other plant. In spring and summer, Compact Burning Bush is still attractive with its nice shape and vibrant/healthy green color.

**Note: From late fall to early spring, these bushes will be sold/shipped dormant (no leaves until spring) and bare root (no pot with minimal dirt).

Is Compact Burning Bush right for you?

**** Important note: Sorry, No Sales to Western, Territories, or Phyto-certificate states due to shipping restrictions in your state (Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Nevada, Montana, Utah, Colorado, and Idaho)

🚨 Unfortunately, due to additional restrictions in your state for this plant, I cannot ship to Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, or New York.

These gorgeous shrubs may not be for everyone, but they are still a best seller for a reason. If you have the right location for them, the color and low-maintenance nature makes this a highly desirable shrub for many homeowners who can’t resist that Autumn color show!

🚨 It is important to note that Euonymus alatus ‘Compactus’ and all Burning Bush varieties are considered invasive in many states because as birds eat their seeds, they come out in their droppings and can easily self-seed this way. If you don’t want Burning Bush to spread, it is important to maintain the area they’re in and remove any unwanted pop-ups. Even then, it may not be possible to get them all. This tendency to spread is what some people love about them because left alone completely, they will colonize a whole area under the right conditions.

✅ Botanical name: Euonymus alatus ‘Compactus’

✅ Zones: 4-9 (a little more shade in hot summer climates is okay)

✅ Mature size: 9-11 feet tall and wide

✅ Light needs: 4-6+ hours of sun daily

✅ Soil: Very adaptable. Prefers well-draining, moist, average soil. The only type its intolerant of is poorly draining and constantly wet.

✅ Water needs: They like consistently moist, especially if grown in full sun.

✅ Pruning: These bushes are very tolerant of shaping and being cut back for size. During dormancy (winter-early spring) is best.

🐦‍⬛ Wildlife loves this shrub. Birds enjoy the seeds from the fruit that develop in the fall. (see photos) This is also what causes these bushes to spread, however… It is also toxic to dogs, cats, or horses if eaten. (They usually don’t)

✅ Burning Bush are hardy and long-lived due to their disease and pest-resistant nature.

✅ When you want a real stand-out landscape, planting these with some evergreens in the background really makes the red color in fall even more eye-catching. It’s the professional landscaping look with the DIY landscaping price tag. 😉
