$12.00
What an unusual and valuable beauty! Bee Balm Jacob Cline (also known as Bergamot) is not only native to Virginia but it has been used for many years as a medicinal plant.
Blooms form atop tall and strong stems, around 2 – 5 feet tall on average. Deadheading old blooms bring on the new! Many people think the Jacob Cline flowers look like red Jester hats. 🙂 They’re very striking and will be seen blooming from mid-summer to early fall!

Is Bee Balm Jacob Cline right for you?
– They need full sun to thrive
– They prefer moist (don’t like to dry out), well-draining, organically rich soil
– You can cut this plant back to the ground after flowering to encourage new leaves and stems.
Many Bee Balm varieties are susceptible to getting powdery mildew but this variety is resistant! These are strong, hardy, low-maintenance fast growers that will delight you. They also are not attractive to deer or rabbits.
Because of their height and striking color, consider planting these as a backdrop for your flower garden or in barrels for flower arrangements. They make everything else stand out. Their blooms are also fun additions to cut flower vases.
The best part about this plant though is how much hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies LOVE it! Plant this bee balm near other garden plants such as squash or tomatoes you’d like to see fertilized and watch the magic happen! In the fall and winter, the seedheads are excellent for the birds!
For medicinal purposes, you can brew the leaves or flowers as an excellent tea for easing cold symptoms! Many people also use bee balm as a digestive aid to help with uncomfortable symptoms like gas or nausea. It even helps ladies with menstrual cramps!
You’re going to love it. Because it’s native, you’re doing something great for your local environment too!
